Energy Sector Institutional and Policy Expert (Ministry of Oil, Gas and Environment and UNDP)

This assignment is dedicated to developing Suriname’s official Suriname Nationally Determined Contribution 3.0 (NDC 3.0) for a sustainable, low-emission, and resilient future. This work involves close collaboration with national stakeholders and ministries to create a clear vision where economic growth and nature conservation go hand-in-hand. Helping to showcase Suriname’s ambitions and leadership in climate action and sustainable development ahead of COP 30 in Belem, Brazil.

June 2025 – Present

Senior Advisor for Horizon Engage

Based in Paramaribo, supporting international energy companies in understanding the realities and risks of operating in Suriname. Drawing on extensive experience in the country’s expanding energy sector, assisting investors in navigating both opportunities and challenges as they seek to establish or expand their presence in Suriname.

March 2024 – May 2025

Rapid Regulatory Review for the Caribbean Development Bank

Led an in-depth review of electricity sector regulatory frameworks in Suriname, Haiti, St. Vincent, and The Bahamas. The assignment identified institutional gaps and formulated a technical assistance roadmap to align countries with international regulatory standards.

May 2024 – October 2024

Regulatory Framework Consultant for the IDB

Conducted a detailed gap analysis and developed strategies to improve Suriname’s electricity sector regulation. Integrated recommendations into the draft Electricity Sector Plan and established a Monitoring & Evaluation framework for implementation.

May 2024 – February 2025

Lead Author, Green Development Strategy (Ministry of Spatial Planning & Environment with FAO and UNDP)

Co-authored the Green Development Strategy for Suriname, synthesizing policy recommendations, sustainability priorities, and stakeholder insights into a national strategic framework.

Energy Consultant for Baitali Group of Companies

Advised on energy trends, sustainability strategies, and regulatory implications to support Baitali Group’s 2025–2030 business strategy, focusing on efficiency and renewable energy integration.

Coordinator, Electricity Sector Plan (ESP)

Appointed as the ESP Coordinator by the Energy Authority of Suriname, managing multi-stakeholder collaboration, data integration, and strategic oversight of the plan’s development.
